pirouttes and pumps
CONGRATS to okiku for getting into MAD hiphop! i'm really proud of you gurl, the routine was a killer and you made it through! :0)
to my dear twins, no worries there's always second intake okay. i know you both are fantastic dancers, so jus don't give up. you guys are one of the main dancers behind guidey performances rmb, and you know SCguides owes opening items and national days to you :D i'm proud of you too.
hahas how i wish SA had hiphop. signed up for dance and cheerleading. and on weds i happily bounded into dance auditions thinking it was hiphop.
hmm. it was really fun actually, even though it was what i would have called ballet of sorts. i don't have an ounce of ballet in me, and i can't piroutte to save my life. nevertheless, when i made some friends there i realised that MANY didnt even have ballet background, and were hiphop junkies like me.
we were split into 4 groups to be taught the syf routine by seniors. the moment it started, i knew i was in for pointe shoes and leotards, not my usual tanktops and baggy cargos. i had a tough time, but then we all had fun cos few in my group were ballerinas! (3 or 4, i think, out of 15).
so yes we all had a good time doing -- trying to do -- double pirouttes and triple turns and -- what-they-call-thems -- alliavates. aleviates. erm something to the effect of "elevate" where we had to tiptoe.
okay so obviously FLUNKED the ballet-jazz part. then they declared with gusto that we were going to do HIPHOP! i was practically bubbling away hoping i could save whatever scraps of my pride and reputation that my "pirouttes" couldn't offer. and then, the routine started, and i almost fainted.
sigh. well i'm exposed to a different type of hiphop where there are pirouttes and turns and pointes. the disappointment on some other faces were obvious too, hahas. in the end i flunked that too! i flunked hiphop!
hee. had great fun anyway, and made new friends. i guess i could stick to cheerleading only, and hopefully i can get in hc after 3 months and join MAD hiphop. its cool :D but its hard cos it seems like hardcore street and hiphop, pumps, pops and all.
just as well. i can handle pumps i hope. better than a piroutte definitely. after weds i had 4 huge blisters -- one was bleeding -- and i wore a double layer of socks to school the next day cos the soles of my feet were raw. i did, i think, a grand total of 50 pirouttes and turns in all. without socks.
but heyy, FUN was the word :0) i wasn't too disappointed in not being selected for syf, it's jus not my cup of tea. i realised watching ballerinas was better for me, since i like ballet movements. for now, i shall stick to my tanktops and baggy pants.
